The Proposal

I wrote this song to propose to my amazing girlfriend on 02/14/2009. Here‘s the story….

On our first Valentines Day together we didn‘t make reservations anywhere (don‘t make that mistake). We wanted to eat at Cheesecake Factory but there was like an hour and a half wait for a table. We asked about getting it to go and it was only about a half hour to forty-five minute wait. So we did that. Then after we picked up our food we drove up to Owens Hill…. We live in Las Vegas and there‘s this spot by Sunrise Mountain where Owens Avenue goes up to a hill that looks out to the whole city. We parked up there and looked out at the city and ate our food. When we were done I had another surprise for her. I pulled out my guitar and sang her a song I wrote for. I was more nervous playing that song for her than I was back in high school and I played in a band for the whole school for the first time.

So I wanted to do recreate that day. It was one of our first special memories together and I wanted to top that….

This time we went with Olive Garden…. I‘m not a fan of Cheesecake Factory‘s food anymore…. other than their cheesecakes of course. Plus the Olive Garden recently added a Shrimp Mezzaluna and it‘s amazing! Anyway, she asked if I made reservations anywhere to make sure we weren‘t going to have to wait forever. I just told her it was taken care of. I ordered the food while she was getting ready. She was confused when we got to Olive Garden and picking up the food instead of sitting down and eating. So we got the food and I drove up to Owens Hill where we sat and ate looking out to the whole city again. When we were done eating I said, “This is the part where I sing you a new song.“ So I got my guitar out of my trunk and sang her the new song. As soon as I got to the very last line, “Will you marry me?” I dropped the pick and pulled out the ring.

She said yes and we will be getting married September 18th, 2009!! :)
