The Mass Romantics started off as just a dude, in 2005. Unsure of his musical identity, that dude, Max Woghiren, set out writing as many different types of songs as he could, from sappy ballads to high-octane songs about things not really all that important. Eleven entirely unrelated songs came out of this phase, together referred to as The Fruits of the Curve.

This musical nomadism continued for years. In mid-2008, Max spent a long but short three months on Chasing Concordia, a side project in which he forced himself to write three one-minute-long songs a week.

In a focused effort to mean business, The Mass Romantics began work on a collection of songs intended to make sense together; this is the Uncanny Valley EP still in progress.
